Your Organization Has a Lot to Gain From Holding Raffle Fundraisers

Mаnу thanks to Mason Stringfellow for a fіnе аnd іnѕіghtful “Impact a Life” college scholarship еѕѕау thаt hіghlіghtѕ why ѕеllіng rаfflе tickets for уоur fundrаіѕеr is a grеаt way to rаіѕе mоnеу.

Mason has some informative insights as to why and how a raffle ticket fundraiser is an ideal way for your organization to raise funds. Mason is a Liberal Arts student at Weber State University.

Non profit organizations have a lot to gain from holding raffle fundraisers. These types of fundraisers typically make a lot of money due to the inexpensive price of tickets. There are key fundamentals, however, that really make a raffle fundraiser worthwhile. These are selling during another event, choosing an amazing grand prize, and rewarding volunteers for their excellent work.

The first fundamental, selling tickets during some kind of event, is key. People will generally come to events focused on their wants and needs before they come to events based around your wants and needs. Having a prominent spot during a festival or fair could get you more ticket sales than holding an event on your own (and save you money). Choosing what kind of event is also very important. Folks are more likely to donate money when they have purposely come to an event to spend money. Conventions and expos can be good for this purpose. You should also find events that are related to your organization. If you are a non-profit charity for children with medical needs, try finding a medical convention, or a charity convention. Remember, searching out the right crowd can make or break the fundraiser.

The second fundamental is choosing a grand prize that donors will really want. Make a budget and then search for ideas based off of the successes of other fundraisers. Nice vacations tend to be good prizes. Folks will be willing to pay $100 in raffle tickets for a 4000 or 5000 dollar trip to fiji. They are also drawn to technology, and other prizes with some significant monetary value. The prize can honestly be anything, but it is a key factor in increasing raffle sales, and will ultimately be worth the price. The size and value of the prize should be affected by the amount of money you want to make, and the estimated number of people who will be at the event. Remember, look for what interests the people.

The third fundamental is finding good incentive for your volunteers. The best way to increase volunteer effectiveness is to reward them based on raffle sales. For instance, if you give a volunteer one ticket for every 10-20 tickets they sale, chances are that they will sell more tickets for more chances to win the grand prize for free. Another key aspect to motivating volunteers is giving them T shirts, goodies and other little rewards for their effort. Volunteers also like to feel valued. Encourage them positively and help them when they need it. They want to help you, so reward them for the good work they do. Remember, your volunteers directly affect the success you will have

Raffle fundraisers are a great way to raise money and, when properly executed, can have amazing success. Never forget that Location is key, good prizes matter, and giving incentive to volunteers can really increase their effectiveness. As you apply these fundamentals along with the ones you develop yourself, you will see lots of success in fundraising.
