Describe how non-profit organizations, (including church groups, civic groups, youth sports organizations) can best derive benefit for their fundraising effort by holding a raffle fundraiser. Offer proposals for a) maximizing the sales of their raffle tickets b) prizes that would encourage and stimulate ticket sales c) suggested ways to motivate volunteers to sell more tickets.

When people hear about getting a prize from a contest if they participate in it, most are automatically hooked and want to get involved without any hesitation. According to statistics, it is agreed that people think more about getting something despite the risks they might be taking. For instance, an example can be a lottery where people spend money in hopes of making a profit. Although there might be some consequences, there are many benefits as well. However, a better way of understanding this idea is through raffles.

In order to start, a brief description of what raffles are must be given. When people hear about raffles, they should be reminded that this is a form of gambling. The most common type of raffle is getting a paper ticket in a contest after you put in a certain number of valuables and wait till the contest is over where the prize will be awarded to the person with the winning raffle ticket.

To show the benefit of raffles, a great way in doing so is through non-profit organizations such as local churches or charities. Recently, there have been devastating wildfires in the state of California and people have been losing everything they have despite this season being the gift of giving and receiving. This led non-profit organizations to find a way to collect gifts in order to give them to families in need. For example, many have held toy drives where they generously asked people to come out and donate. Even though many people have donated, the number of gifts collected have not been high compared to recent years because the people who have donated in the past were the same ones affected today which has had non-profit organizations struggling to find people to find people who were willing to donate. This leads us into how these organizations could make a huge difference by creating raffle fundraisers.

One way they could benefit is announcing that every gift that is brought by people before a specific deadline will enter them into a contest and give them a chance to win a prize in return. Although non-profit organizations are not designed to hand out prizes, they could surely offer one that will satisfy one’s needs even if it is not much. A great way would be to get the news industry to publish stories or hold live interviews with them that would go out and be watched or read by people. This might sort of bring them fame which will most likely feel good.

Another way they could benefit is by teaming up with professional sports teams or restaurants and give out free tickets to attend and watch sports games like football or eat free meals at well-known restaurants by using the same raffle fundraiser mentioned above.

Instead of offering free restaurant tickets and making people wait to redeem them, they could have food trucks at the raffle fundraising and give out free meals to people for coming even if they had no intention of getting a raffle ticket. If they turn out, the generosity around them might change their heart.

However, non-profit organizations could go out of their way and encourage their followers to create their own fundraisers to double the amount of raffle tickets being given out. These followers could even refer their friends to do the same and so on.

Hence, there might be other ways to get these raffle tickets given out, but the tactics mentioned in this essay are most likely the best ways for non-profit organizations.
