Benefits of Raffle Ticket Sales
Holding a benefit with the use of raffle tickets is something I have recently had first-hand experience with this past year. My husband was born with a benign astrocytoma (tumor) in his right temporal lobe and suffered from severe epilepsy because of it. His entire life he would have approximately one seizure a week. However, one day at work he collapsed and hit his head after suffering a gran mal seizure. He was in the ICU for a week, with a diagnosis of a brain bleed. Form that point forward, his seizures were growing in frequency and intensity. His doctors decided that the only beneficial procedure would be to remove his entire right temporal lobe. We knew it would be costly, and a financial burden, but was a necessary procedure. Thankfully, my mother in law had the idea of hosting a benefit and selling raffle tickets. The benefit proved to be an immense help with paying medical bills and medication expenses. I will further explain exactly what this benefit entailed, and how we were able to raise money for his surgery costs.
Planning a raffle benefit
The first step in planning a raffle ticket benefit is making sure you have help. My mother in law enlisted several close family members to assist with planning the event. She printed out tickets based off the lottery ticket numbers held on a specific day. Whichever person had the winning “lottery” numbers on their ticket would receive a $2000 cash prize. This gave people more incentive to buy tickets, knowing there was a prize involved. She gave out tickets to as many people as she could to distribute and sold them for $10 a ticket. Many people actually bought tickets in my husband’s name, so that if the ticket won, the cash prize would also go to him. Eventually, she was able to sell $10,000 worth of tickets, with the help of family and friends. The lottery numbers were called on June 2nd, and my cousin ended up with the winning ticket. He graciously gave half of his winnings back to my husband. So, in total, we were able to raise $9,000 with an additional $1,000 going to the raffle ticket winner. It was incredible and humbling to see people purchasing tickets for our cause, and made a huge impact on our lives. With the money raised we were able to pay for medical bills, medications, and even our regular bills, as my husband was off work for 6 months.
In conclusion, planning a raffle benefit is a very simple and effective way to raise money for a cause. Learning how to effectively raise money has helped me get involved in raising money for others. I currently have a friend whose mother is suffering from ALS and we are currently planning a raffle benefit to help pay for her medication. It is a great way to give back to the community and come up with a large amount of money in a short amount of time. Overall, I am eternally grateful for what one raffle benefit could do for my family, and wish to help others in the same way.Place An Order
