Currently I serve as the Youth Director of the Worcester Islamic Center here in Worcester, MA. Being around kids of the high school ages and seeing the importance of fundraising, the benefit of a raffle fundraiser is tremendous.

To maximize the sales of their raffle tickets there would be a couple different ways to accomplish this goal. The first being going person to person or door to door. There is nothing more effective today than having a conversation face to face about why purchasing a raffle ticket is important. The reason being they not only will be able to hear the importance in your voice but see it in your face which is will leaving a longer lasting impression. The second way to maximize the sales of the raffle ticket can be to offer incentives. For example, a person who buys 10 cookies from the bake sale gets a free raffle ticket or if an adult donates $100 to the youth group then they get 10 free raffle tickets. Its human nature to expect something in return when they are giving up something of theirs. Even if it be time or money, the human always has some level of expectation to receive something in return of their efforts and kindness.

There are many prices that would encourage and stimulate sales on their own. They can be categorized in a couple different groups. The first group I would say is the flashy prizes. This groups include things like a new iPad or Macbook, vacation for 2 or a new TV. These are all expensive and flashy items that a potential raffle ticket buyer would immediately see and get convinced to buy a ticket. The second group I would say is the practical group. This group includes things like: a portable charger, electronic toothbrush or phone case. These are all things that would be extremely useful for a person. Usually this will garner interest on its own as the potential customers are already thinking how they will use these gifts or why it will help their lives. The third group I would say are the cool gifts. These could be: a basketball hoop or new Bluetooth headphones. These are gifts that neither super flashy or necessary but it would be cool to have. These are the hardest to sell to the customers as often the potential customers for the raffle tickets don’t see why they need the gifts. If you can buy gifts in the first two categories than the ticket sales will be stimulated on their own.

There are many ways to stimulate the volunteers to sell more tickets. A very simple way is to create a contest between them and see who sells the most tickets. If the prize is flashy or practical, then they will easily be motivated to sell the tickets. Another simpler way to encourage volunteers to sell tickets is to promise a collective reward. For example, for my youth group I could promise them a pizza party if they sell over 500 tickets. This allows them to help support each other and encourage each other to sell tickets to reach the goal. There are many ways to encourage the volunteers but these are two of the most common yet effective ways to do so.
