Strolling along through the local shopping center and in every window the words “Clearance or last chance sale” are written on a sign. Just about everyone is inclined to take advantage of a good deal when they see one. Businesses certainly know how to reel in their customers. One great way to attract customers that most businesses probably have not considered is utilizing a raffle. First of all, raffles are fun. With the possibility of winning a prize, at a relatively cheap price, people are always willing to participate.

If a business were to host a raffle it could draw in more attention to their store. The business could advertise, and give away merchandise or products in order to get customers to shop in their stores. Raffle tickets could be given away after the customer spends a certain amount of money, or if they buy a particular product. If the raffle prizes were worth more than the amount of money they would be spending, the customers would be more likely to partake.

Businesses could also offer raffle tickets to people who have an account through the store and shop there frequently. If a person is a loyal customer, then they should be rewarded. The customer could be entered in a raffle, which will cause them to feel as though the business genuinely cares about their customers. It is important to make the customers feel important and appreciated, so that they will want to continue shopping at the business. Many people experience buyer’s remorse, so if they were to be given some sort of reward for shopping at a store, they would feel less guilty about having spent their money.

The first step that the business should take is deciding what they would give away as a raffle prize. As stated before, it needs to be something that is worth the customers’ money as well as time, since they will have to go into the store to participate. After deciding what the prize is going to be, the business needs to decide how they plan to implement and advertise the raffle. Depending on the target demographic, various steps can be taken. Social media is an amazing and convenient way of advertising to a younger generation, so the company could post on their Facebook pages, twitters accounts, and Instagram profiles. For older generations, the business could post ads in newspapers, magazines, or on the radio.

Along with all of the advertising that the businesses are doing about their raffle, they are also receiving more exposure as well as putting their stores in the minds of their customers. The customers may be hearing or seeing advertisements about the raffle, but when they realize that they need a new pair of shoes, or want a burger for lunch, that advertisement will be in their minds. The raffle could be what brings the customer to the business, but once they are there the deals and the quality of the products are what will make them want to stay.
