You’re Going to Sell Raffle Tickets!
It’s a Sunday morning and you’re getting ready for church like you normally would on any given Sunday. When you walk downstairs to eat breakfast with your mom tells you that your church is going to do a fundraiser and they have put you in charge! The fundraiser is going to be for a girl in your community who has just lost her house.
You know that you have to raise a lot of money and you don’t really have that much time so what are you going to do? Ideas start running through your head and none of them are going to be able to raise enough money until the thought just pops in your head. You’re going to sell raffle tickets!
Raffle tickets are a great idea and you know that you will be able to raise the money you need. For one everyone loves the excitement of raffle tickets. You never know who will win. Also with raffle tickets you can buy as many as you want and your name goes into the drawing that many times. Another great thing about raffle tickets is that you get to go out shopping for the prize, and who doesn’t love to go shopping? Once you decide that you are to do a raffle drawing you go in front of the church that morning and announce what you are going to be doing. The church is so excited about the raffle drawing and people are lining up to buy tickets from you. Everyone at church tells you how awesome of an idea that the drawing is.
Once church is over that morning you decide that it is time to go shopping for a prize. When you are thinking about a prize you think about something that everyone would enjoy and could use on a daily basis. Some great ideas that you think of are an iPad, a big gift basket with tons of different things inside, and you even think about a visa gift card. Who doesn’t love getting a visa gift card? A visa gift card you can spend anywhere and buy whatever you wished to buy. You decide that a visa gift card would be the best idea.
People can be really be picky and rude sometimes so why not just give them what everyone would like to get…money. Instead of going out and going shopping all day you go to your local Walmart to get one of the gift cards. As you’re standing in line at Walmart you think about what amount to put on the card. Since you’re selling the tickets for five dollars apiece you decide that a one hundred fifty dollar gift card would be perfect. You are so glad that you chose the gift card idea because you did not have to go far from home and it is something that everyone can use and enjoy. You sell the tickets for two weeks and you sold over two-hundred raffle tickets!
You go to church on Sunday and you announce how much money that you have made and raised because of the wonderful raffle tickets! You thank the church for all of their help and now it’s time to draw the winning ticket! Everyone is quit and anxiously waiting to hear the number that you call out. Everyone is staring at you and hoping that you call their number and then…BAM the number is called out and you have a winner!
At the end of the drawing you are very proud of the decision that you have made and you are very thankful for raffle tickets!

A Raffle Can Have a Positive Impact on Your Business
A Raffle Can Have a Positive Impact on Your Business by Joebelle Andrus
Utilizing a raffle can have a huge positive impact on the business. It captures the customers' attention, it makes them curious. A business can offer different prizes to their customers like discounts, free items at the store, gift certificates or cards for bigger companies they will offer a car as a prize. These prizes can attract customers who are entering the store. When I was in my hometown, a huge and well known department store was utilizing a raffle. The terms and conditions of the raffle is that, a customer need to purchase at least $50.00 or higher to enter the raffle. With every$50.00 a customer gets one entry to the raffle. The more a customer spends the more chances they can win. As a customer you would think that this amount is high, but you would also think of the prizes they are giving if your name get to be picked. The raffle for this department store was for 3 months, the prizes ranges from $1,000 for 5 people, washer and dryer for 2 people, 42' in flat screen TV and the grand prize was a trip for 2 to Bora-Bora. As a customer you want to be one of these people, so in order to have more chances of winning you would go and shop to that department store for 3 months.
Another business establishment that has somewhat like a raffle is "Crazy Scrubs". I have been their customer since I enter the healthcare field. The thing with this business, is that in order to get free scrubs or anything in the store, they will give you a card with numbers 1 to 10. Every time you buy something at the store, they will punch a whole in the card and they will add your name in their system so people can not cheat on putting punches in the cards.
During the holiday season most of businesses have special offers such as discounts, free items. If a business offers these prizes to their customers more than likely the customers will keep shopping there to win free items and get discounts to complete their holiday shopping list. This also works as a raffle because people will find ways to save money during the holiday season to get more items for their family and friends. If they know that they can get all these stuff they will get the things they need in that business establishment. With this customers who benefited from this promotion can go back to the store every year for their holiday shopping.
Free items, discounts and many more prizes for customers are a best way to promote and get more sales. Not only it promotes the business it is also one of the best ways to tell their patrons/customers that they care about them. As I customer, if I know a business is having discounts or giving away free items or services I will shop there because I know I will save money. All in all, raffle is one of the best ways to promote a business, if it is easy you can make sure that customers will be doing business in the establishment.

A Dozen Awesome Raffle Fundraising Ideas
The Classic Raffle:
This is the basic raffle that everyone knows!
• Find great prizes,
• Decide on a format for ticket sales (Will you have labeled sheets (a-z) with numbers where people fill out their names, or will ticket buyers receive a ticket that they keep till the drawing),
• Decide on a date and place for the drawing (if the raffle is not for a specific event),
• Create some exposure and excitement about the raffle by promoting it,
• Recruit a team of ticket sellers…
Now start selling tickets!
Fifty/Fifty Raffle:
For anyone wanting a fundraising idea that is free and easy to set up, this is your fundraiser!
A 50/50 Raffle works very simply! Instead of finding prizes for the raffle, the winner will receive 50% of the funds raised as the prize. It’s that simple!
It’s also a fast and profitable fundraiser that anyone or any cause can use.
100’s Club:
This is a fantastic high-end 50/50 raffle idea that can result in great success.
Just like the above, the prize will be 50% of the funds raised, but the tickets will be sold at a high price, with only 100 tickets available.
By doing this it creates a limited availability of tickets, increasing someone’s chances of winning, and increasing the perceived value of buying a ticket!
You should also create more excitement with it by doing the drawing as a reverse raffle.
Reverse Raffle Ideas:
A reverse raffle adds a fun twist to your raffle and can create an enjoyable bit of entertainment at any event.
It is generally more suitable to limited raffles, like the above hundred club.
Here’s how it works, is as tickets are drawn they are eliminated from the raffle instead of the 1st ticket drawn being the winner. The last ticket standing will then be the prize winner.
You can also allow people to buy their way back into the draw (for say twice the ticket price) at certain stages of the raffle to increase earnings!
Guess the Amount Raffles:
There are many ways of doing this raffle idea, and you can get really creative with it.
For example fill a car with balloons, and let people guess how many balloons are inside for a fee. The person/s who guesses or has the closest guess wins/shares the prize.
Or you could have a penny drive, full an empty 5l bottle of water with coins through the drive, and then have people guess how many coins are in the bottle for a fee, and to win a prize of some sort!
Go ahead – get creative with this one and you can have some real fun.
Pin on Map:
Have a map of your local town/province/state etc., that has a hidden imaginary treasure (the prize).
Participants then buy numbered pins and place them on the map where they think the treasure is hidden.
Closest to the treasure wins!
The Helicopter Drop:
Have a large field that is divided into blocks. People then purchase block/s for a fee in an attempt to guess where the helicopter will drop the prize bundle.
Encourage your helicopter pilot to circle and swoop over the field quite a bit to provide some intense anticipation before he drops the parcel. And maybe have the parcel drop set for a certain time so to make the drop more random as he flies over the field.
This Heli Drop can also be incorporated into the “Golf Ball Dropâ€
Obviously you’ll also need to hire or find a willing Helicopter owner to help you out with this one.
Cow Patty Raffle:
Almost exactly the same as the above idea, but instead of having a helicopter drop a parcel; you employ the services of a cow and its poop!
The block that the cow drops its patty in wins!
Both the above two ideas are perfect for fairs, carnivals, and other similar events.
Wine Pull Raffle:
You will absolutely love this fundraiser!
It’s the perfect addition to many fundraising events, and there are a few different and creative Wine Pull ideas that you can use.
Participants will purchase a “wine pull” that gives them the opportunity to pull a bottle of wine from a selection of expensive, cheap, and medium range wine.
Meaning they will always walk away with something, but have the possibility of pulling a really awesome bottle of wine!
Car Raffles:
A high-end raffle idea that can be exceptionally profitable.
You’ll need to acquire an awesome car for the raffle. Setup a deal with a local dealership, where you’ll pay for the car once the raffle is over. That way you won’t need to put up any upfront capitol.
And then you’ll need to market, promote and sell tickets to a large number of people to make it successful.
Chinese Auction:
A Chinese Auction is pretty much a silent auction and a raffle, mixed into one. And it’s a pretty cool and effective idea!
Participant can purchase numbered bid tickets for a specific price. They then use those tickets to bid on the items that they want, by placing the bid tickets in a bowl or box, next to the item.
At the end of the auction a ticket is drawn from each item’s “bid tickets”, and the owner of that ticket wins the bid and the auction item.
Another creative and cool raffle idea, right?
The Golf Ball Drop:
The last of these Raffle Ideas is another really cool idea.
The Golf Ball Drop works by people purchasing numbered golf balls. The golf balls are then dropped by any number of means onto a Green, for example from a Helicopter or from a tipping bucket on a tractor.
The ball that then goes in the hole, or is nearest to the pin, is the winner!
A very simple, but very effective fundraising idea!
So what are your fundraising plans?
